On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church, helping to light a fire that would spread across Europe and alter the course of human history.

Less than a century later, the ideas that were kindled spread to the New World and became part of the foundation for the freedoms that we enjoy in the United States.

Today the Protestant Reformation is recognized as one of the most transformational events in world history. It forever altered the structure of society and directly impacted the founding of the United States of America.

The upcoming 500th anniversary represents an opportunity for us to pause and reflect on big, fundamental questions and ideas around faith, philosophy and liberty. It’s also an opportunity for the various denominations in Christendom to come together and reflect on both the history and the current status of the church across the globe.
